We all know the benefits of drinking red wine like increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, decreased blood clot formation, decreased blood vessel damage due to low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels but wine not add it to a dessert?

This cake is moist and flavorful, delicious for a grown-ups’ party or dinner, especially with the great combination of red wine and chocolate.

 3 tbsp flax seeds, ground
 6 tbsp water
 ½ cup brown sugar
 6 tbsp olive oil
 2 tbsp cocoa powder
 1 cup all purpose flour
 1 tsp vanilla extract
 1 tsp baking powder
 1 pinch of salt
 ¾ cup red wine
 ½ tsp cinnamon

In a bowl, mix the ground flax seeds with water and let it soak for 5 minutes

Stir in the oil and sugar and mix well until combined.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cocoa and salt. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the oil mixture, alternating it with red wine.

Grease a 9-inch round pan and pour in the batter.

Bake in the preheated oven at 350F for 30-40 minutes. Let cool in the pan then transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
